Lead climbing to a minimum grade of 6a on artificial walls or outdoors.

The course: introduction to multipitch routes protected with bolts or reliable pegs.
Subjects:
1st Session:Knots and roping up methods.
Belay systems (Gri-Gri, tubular devices, Mega Jul, Italian hitch).
Leader belaying techniques with different braking devices and single rope.
Practice holding falls.
Lead climbing on bolted routes.
Mid pitch retreat manoeuvre.
Belaying a second.
Creating abseil lanyards and setting up abseils.
Multiple abseils.
Simulation of leaving and arrival at a stance – different belaying methods from a stance.
Setting up a belay anchor with different types of gear (the most widely used types of belays).
Setting up a belay using unconnected fixed gear in various ways (on in-situ gear).
How to secure yourself on a stance.
Belaying a leader on multipitch routes with different braking devices (advantages and disadvantages).
Simulated leader fall while belaying on a stance (the critical factors when belaying on a stance).
Using double and/or twin ropes.
Extra: basic self-rescue techniques, or introduction to placing runners and other typical protection you might find along a pitch.
Climb a multipitch sports route in the Ledro/Valle del Sarca area to consolidate the concepts learned in the first two sessions. Options include:
Lago di Santa Massenza, Parete San Paolo, Val di Ledro, Placche di Baone, or Corno di Bo’.
